TGL golf: Rory McIlroy hits record drive as Boston Common Golf thrash Shane Lowry's The Bay Golf Club

Rory McIlroy, Keegan Bradley and Michael Thorbjornsen powered Boston Common Golf to another emphatic TGL victory as they routed The Bay Golf Club 9-1 at the SoFi Center.

After finishing last in Season 1, Boston have quickly established themselves as the team to beat in Season 2.

The Ballfrogs top the standings at 2-0-0 and hold the tiebreaker over fellow unbeaten Atlanta Drive with 15 holes won, while The Bay (0-2-0) faces an uphill climb toward the postseason after a second straight defeat.

McIlroy smashed a record-breaking 358-yard drive on Storrowed while Thorbjornsen continued his remarkable start after setting a TGL record with four putts from outside 10 feet on his debut.

The 24-year-old delivered again on Monday, draining a 14‑footer for birdie at the seventh to push Boston 4-1 ahead, then calmly sinking a pressure-packed six‑footer with the Hammer in play to prevent a two‑point swing.

Boston set the tone early by winning the opening hole and never relinquished control, closing out the match with a near-flawless stretch.

McIlroy added to the momentum by defeating close friend Shane Lowry in singles, picking up points at No 10 and 13 as part of a dominant 8-0 Boston run over the final 11 holes.

Tiger Woods' Jupiter Links GC face reigning champions Atlanta Drive GC on February 2 (10pm start UK time), while McIlroy's Boston Common Golf next feature on February 23 against Atlanta Drive (10pm start UK time).
